CLASSES FOR VISITORS, INQUIRERS, AND NEW MEMBERS:

CENTRAL 101: AN INQUIRER'S CLASS:

Are you new to Central – either as a visitor or new member – and want to know more about the congregation?  Have you been around for a while and find that you would still like to know more about the ministries taking place within the congregation?  If so, mark your calendars for September 28, October 5 and 12 when we will offer a Sunday School class just for you.  Led by Rev. Jacqueline Decker Vanderpol, the class will give you an opportunity to meet the staff, learn about the ministries we support, and ask questions about the congregation, denomination, and theology.  We will meet at 9:15am in the conference room adjacent to the narthex.

ADULT EDUCATION:

Adult Education at Central is lively, the language is sometimes irreverent, and people feel very free to disagree with the teachers.  Prior attendance is never required.

Sunday Morning Adult Education...

NO ADULT EDUCATION:

There will be no adult education on August 31, the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.

THE GIFT OF FRIENDSHIP:

Sunday, September 7th

Taught by Rev. Marty Jacobsen.

THE CHURCH AND SOCIAL CHANGE - LEADING CONGREGATIONS TO LEAD COMMUNITIES:

Sundays, September 14, 21, and 28

Taught by Chris Adams and Mark Earnest.

What does it mean to “Do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God” in today’s world?  This three part series will explore our Christian calling to seek justice.  We will examine the biblical basis for our call, discuss the role of faith in social change, and ask what is the role Central and its members in the public share?  Can faith and policy mix?  What is the role of our community of faith in advocating for social change?  The questions will be examined in general, but also in the context of contemporary policy questions around health care reform.
