Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6
Reflect on the Word
I have always been touched by the refrain from the Hymn “Here I am, Lord.”
Here I am, Lord.
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.
The Bible describes Christians as “tent people” – those who dwell among and serve people in need. Essentially, the Church is called to take over the work of Jesus. Central Presbyterian Church is a shining example of such outreach. Members and friends have “pitched tents” in our building, the surrounding community, and around the world. We seek to serve those in need of help and/or comfort, providing such things as prayer shawls and assistance with housing, spiritual support, and mental/physical health issues. Our church community and its work extend far beyond the walls of our building. Here we are, Lord!
It is a blessing to have God’s guidance available to us, 24/7. God calls to us, right here, right now. I have learned to listen for His call, and (at times to others’ dismay), I have followed it. I’m thankful for the blessings that have resulted from those decisions. What are you being called to in this season of your life? Are you listening? Will you follow?
Come, Holy Spirit, come. Help me listen for His call to serve. We pray in your name. Amen.
Make an Intention
As Central embarks on an effort to expand its ability to serve our congregation and those in need around us, help each of us listen. What can I do to help?
