ENGAGING THE MIND AND SPIRIT: MUSIC
For the latest music news check out Music Notes!
The music ministry at Central offers the opportunity to perform inspiring sacred music in a worship setting. The members of our ensembles have a great impact on our worship services and derive great satisfaction from participation in the music program. We would like to invite all to become members of the music program at Central. We have needs in both vocal and instrumental areas. Our ensembles and rehearsal times are listed below. Questions can be directed to Steven Burchard at 303.839.5500 or 303.465.9483.
Chancel Choir: The Chancel Choir is our main service choir for Sunday worship and is open to anyone with a love of singing from high school age through adult. Rehearsals run from 7:30 to 9:30 on Thursday evenings beginning in late August and continuing through the end of May. We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00 to prepare for the 10:30 worship service. Steven Burchard is the director of this ensemble.
Handbell Choir: The Handbell Choir rings monthly during Sunday worship and at special services. Knowledge of very basic rhythm patterns (whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes) is helpful, but not required. Rehearsals run from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. on Thursday evenings beginning in late August and continuing through the end of May. Ringers from middle school age through adult are welcome. Steven Burchard is the director of this ensemble.
Children’s Choir: The Children’s Choir sings monthly during Sunday worship and is open to any child from grades first to five who loves to sing. Rehearsals run after Sunday worship from 11:35 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. beginning in September and continuing through the middle of May. Parents can take advantage of fellowship time after worship while the children sing. Heather Jergensen is the director of this ensemble.
Instrumental Soloists or Groups: Throughout the course of the church year instrumental musicians are needed to supply music for prelude, postlude and offertory, as well as offer instrumental support for special choir anthems. We have need for volunteer wind, string, and percussion players on an “as needed” basis throughout the program year. Rehearsal times and dates will vary. Instrumental ability levels should be in the intermediate to advanced range.
Vocal Soloists or Small Ensembles: Do you wish to share your gift of music but cannot make a commitment to weekly choir? We have openings for you and/or your group to sing or play during prelude, postlude or offertory. We welcome non-traditional (folk, gospel, jazz, etc.) styles that will enhance our worship experience. Simply make an appointment with Steven and he will listen to your music and help schedule a Sunday for you to sing or play.
Peace in Christ,
Steven Burchard, Director of Music
