Service and Mission At Our Core

Within the Church,Within the Community,In the US and the World

Central was founded as a mission, and service has been a core part of who we are ever since. Throughout our history, we have been reaching out to those within our church, within our community and in the world to provide friendship, services, support and whatever else is needed by those who could just use a little help.

Service and Mission Opportunities

Within the Church

Children’s Programs

Parents or friends of the children and youth are all encouraged to volunteer their time for the various programs. You can do your volunteer involvement by donating your time to teach, serve on a committee, collect recyclables, provide snacks or a meal for our youth and much more.

Adult Education

The Adult Education committee serves the church by planning thought-provoking, challenging, and spiritually-rich educational opportunities for Central members and visitors. In addition to overseeing Sunday morning adult education and Wednesday night Bible studies, the committee plans the annual women’s and men’s retreats and the six-week Lenten home study series. New committee members are always welcome.

Deacon Care Partner Program

Please consider serving as a Care Partner with the Deacon’s visitation program for our members who are no longer able to attend worship regularly. Walking along side them as a friend and co-member of our church family will be meaningful to you both!

Music Programs

The music ministry at Central Presbyterian offers the opportunity to perform inspiring sacred music in a worship setting. The members of our ensembles have a great impact on our worship services and derive great satisfaction from participation in the music program. We would like to invite all to become members of the music program at Central. We have needs in both vocal and instrumental areas. Find out more about our ensembles and rehearsal times. Questions can be directed to the church office at 303.839.5500.

Mission Committee

New Genesis… Central Visitation Program… Metro Caring… Were you drawn to worship at Central Presbyterian Church in part because of the meaningful service opportunities the church is involved in? Do you wish you were more involved personally in these ministries? Central supports these three opportunities and many others, and the committee overseeing it all is the mission committee. The mission committee partners with these organizations to ensure continued outreach to our community. The committee also organizes the annual domestic and international mission trips, mission fair, a giving tree in December and periodic Habitat work days. The committee also determines where our mission dollars are spent.

Service and Mission Opportunities

Within the Denver Community

Central partners with other churches and organizations to expand our reach as Jesus’ hands and feet in the Denver community.

Service and Mission Opportunities

In the US and around the World

Central seeks to serve those in need domestically and around the world. We increase our impact by partnering with the ongoing mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Annual Domestic Mission Trip

Every year, Central members and friends join together in a mission trip within the United States. Past trips have included Hurricane Katrina rebuilding, relief work following the Colorado floods, and building Habitat homes throughout the Southwest.

Annual Mission Trip

After seven years of partnering with a church in Guatemala to provide clean water and hygiene education to the community of Aceituno, they are ready to stand on their own and continue the good work. So, in 2017, Central will begin a new partnership – in Cuba!  We encourage you to join us as we use our experience in water purification systems and microbusiness training in a new country!

Kurt Esslinger and Hyeyoung Lee

Central supports Presbyterian mission co-workers Kurt and Hyeyoung as they mentor Young Adult Volunteers who spend one year living and serving in South Korea.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is the emergency and refugee program of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Recently, PDA has responded to everything from earthquakes and tsunamis abroad to floods and school shootings domestically.

Special Offerings

Central collects the four special offerings of the Presbyterian Church (USA) which support the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program in the US and abroad, the Self-Development of People program that resources the poor and oppressed, racial-ethnic leadership development, and many more ministries.
