In the Central Presbyterian Youth Program, we're working toward a sense of belonging that isn't easy to find in today's world - creating friendships, warmth and a place for youth that is infinitely comfortable. We're not an ordinary youth group - we come from all over the city. And, like many Central members, our youth lead busy and demanding lives. Our mission is to keep the experience meaningful. We want to embrace each and every one of our youth with opportunities that are rich, relevant, and frankly, a lot of fun.
ONCE EACH MONTH, WE HOLD A MAJOR YOUTH EVENT.
In addition, we have a monthly gathering after church for fun (going to a movie, bowling, ice-skating, etc.). It's all about having a church community that's a place for friendship, reaching out to those in need and to other communities, and exploring what role God plays in our lives. In the past few months, we have played in the mountains, walked to end cancer, shouted for joy, painted and scrubbed, explored the phases of spiritual life, danced, and served dinner to men at NewGenesis, Central's shelter for homeless men. We've participated in retreats at Highlands Presbyterian Camp, joined an Arvada Presbyterian Halloween dance through an overnight at our church, and sponsored mission work in conjunction with People's
and First Avenue Presbyterian's youth groups. Outside of retreats and a few special events, we schedule activities on Sundays. It's a rich time of spiritual education and discussion, worship and a time to hang out with your Central friends. We're also actively working to refurbish our youth room (in one of the towers of the 1880's Central architecture) into one of the 'hippest' youth rooms in town - relaxed with places to hang out, talk with friends, play games - our own youth "coffeehouse."
AT CENTRAL, WE WANT YOUTH TO BE AN INTEGRAL PART of what happens within the entire congregation. As a multi-generational community, we're building bridges between ages. We want to know who you are.
COME AND JOIN US for worship, meet some of our youth, attend an event. Get a real feel for what it's like at Central. We want you to have a place where you can belong.
