After three months of intense discussions and conversations around vital issues, the Faith Formation Council opted for something different for the season of Advent.  Music is such an important aspect of worship and the experience of Advent and Christmas.  Music touches the soul deeply, bypasses our intellectual defenses, and grants – by the Spirit’s workings – a deeper understanding and experience of God’s presence.  Experiencing and feeling music is so appropriate in this season, because the incarnation points to embodiment!  Music is not so much thought, as felt; it is of the heart more than the head.  Music is an incarnation itself!  For the Season of Advent our Faith Formation classes following Zoom Coffee Hour will focus on hearing, feeling, and experiencing music that reflects the four themes of Advent: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.  You will hear familiar hymns, but you will also be surprised by popular songs from here, and across the world, inviting us to embody God’s love in our lives.  “No other art distils feeling the way music does; this is how it can utterly claim us.” (John O’Donohue, Beauty: The Invisible Embrace)  Join us after Zoom Coffee Hour to be moved by music, to be claimed by God’s love.
