Parish Associate

Tim Mooney

Tim Mooney, half-time Parish Associate, joined the staff of Central in October of 2017.  A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary (Masters of Divinity, 1987) and adjunct professor and staff member for San Francisco Theological Seminary’s Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction Program (2000-2015), Tim has served churches as pastor, spiritual director, and retreat/workshop leader in the San Francisco Bay Area and Denver Metro Area.  He has authored a book, Like a Child: Restoring the Awe, Wonder, Joy & Resiliency of the Human Spirit, recorded a CD of original songs, True, and is a fine artist (www.timmooneystudio.com).

Tim’s ministry emphasizes the inclusive and transforming grace and love exhibited in the life and teachings of Jesus.  He invites all to know they are created good, to choose to respond with humor instead of condemnation to our common frailty, and to act towards self, others, and the world as God’s beloved creation.  He invites others to draw deeply from the rich tradition of Christianity and recognize the light of God in other faith traditions.  Tim emphasizes original blessing over original sin, God’s presence over God’s absence, abundant over scarce grace, acceptance over judgment, people over program, present over past, our belovedness over our unworthiness, journey over arrival, love over efficiency.

He’s into yoga, enjoys craft beer, loves skiing on powder days, and is lowering the number of Colorado 14’ers yet to be summitted.
